Apple is making it easier for the Android users who are switching from the Google mobile operating system / Androids to iOS 9. Later this year, Apple will be offering a new app that’ll automatically transfer data and apps from the Android platform to iOS. Users who wish to change platforms will be required to install the app on their Android device in order to initiate the exchange of information across accounts. Once completed, the Android device cane be wiped and recycled or resold.
As part of the process, Move to iOS will scan the apps on the Android smartphone and will prompt users to install the same apps on iOS. Paid apps with an iOS version also will be detected and added to user’s iOS App Store wish list. Apple claims this process will be conducted securely so a user’s sensitive information can not be exploited during the transfer.
There isn’t much information available about the ‘Move to iOS’ Android app except for the screenshot of the app running on HTC One M9. After the transfer of data is complete, the app also informs users that they can recycle their Android phone for free at any Apple Store.
It is not clear if there will be an equivalent app on the App Store, that will allow you to manage the data ported from Android. We expect to get a lot more information when the Move to iOS app is available on Google Play Store, and iOS 9 is released to the public on this Septemeber 2015.
